What makes the price vary
The type of door. A standard apartment door opens faster than a multipoint door or a metal cellar door: the working time changes, and so does the price.
The security level of the cylinder. A high-security cylinder takes more skill to open and costs more to replace than a common model. The exact model is quoted first.
The time of the call-out. Night, weekend or an immediate request triggers the emergency surcharge, from CHF 60. It is announced on the phone before the locksmith sets off — never discovered on the invoice.
Drilling, avoided 9 times out of 10. A fine opening destroys nothing: no cylinder to buy again. If drilling is unavoidable, the cost of the replacement is announced before we start.
The state of the lock when we arrive. A forced key or a bolt broken before we get there makes the job longer. Hence our advice: don't force anything while waiting for us.
